Climbing and Canoeing Expedition 'King Alfred' Adventure to Gibraltar, June 2001

HMS King Alfred

Abseiling

The party of 19 flew with Monarch Airlines to Gibraltar where they were accommodated in the Joint Services Devils Tower Camp. Two days of rock climbing, abseiling and hill walking were followed by a further two days of kayaking and water sports. All activities were supervised by qualified instructors. To conclude, the party spent a day in Spain and a day undertaking an interesting and extremely informative tour of the tunnels within the Rock. On our return to the UK, we reflected upon a week of challenge and enjoyment in a particularly pleasant environment. Moreover, we better understood the importance of working as a team and the need to push ourselves that little bit further to achieve our goals.
